1) What's the difference between Halal and non-Halal products?
LifePak : The main difference is in the gelatin shell
of the capsule. Non-Halal LifePak generally contain 85% bovine (derived
from cow) and 15% porcine (derived from pig) source in its formulation.
With Halal LifePak, the gelatin shell is 100% bovine. That is, it
doesn't contain any pig-derived ingredients. Halal LifePak is only
available in Singapore.
Optimum Omega : Since its availability in Singapore, Optimum
Omega was already developed with compliance to Halal standards and
was pending Halal certification. Upon recent completion of the certification
process, Optimum Omega's Halal status is finalized and confirmed.
FibreNet : The Singapore's version of FibreNet had been
Halal with its launch.
ALL OF THE GOOD INGREDIENTS FOUND IN THE PRODUCTS REMAIN UNCHANGED.
2) Will the efficacy and derived health benefits of the products
be different?
Pharmanex is dedicated to help people around the world achieve healthier
and more productive lives by providing health beneficial products
through innovative and comprehensive dietary supplements. Pharmanex
products that are Halal certified were initiated and designed in
order to allow a greater number of people with religious restrictions
to experience the life-changing health benefits of these products.
Regardless of whether the products are Halal certified or not, the
efficacy and health benefits derived from these Pharmanex products
currently available in Singapore (which include LifePak, FibreNet
and Optimum Omega) remain the same, except for the source of the
capsules' gelatin shell.
3) What does being Halal certified means?
Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted and is a religious
standard that Muslims follow in relation to the type of food and
their method of preparation. Being Halal certified means that an
ingestible item meets the requirements of these food and preparation
methods. For more information about Halal certification, you may
wish to visit the Islamic Food And Nutrition Council of America's
(IFANCA) website at http://www.ifanca.org/.
4) How do I know if my Pharmanex Product is Halal certified?
All Halal certified Pharmanex products in Singapore carry a sticker
of the Halal logo clearly displayed on the product's packaging.

5) Where is the Halal certification done?
The Halal certification is processed in the US through an organisation
with Muslim affiliations known as IFANCA (Islamic Food And Nutrition
Council of America).
6) Do we have a Halal certificate for the products?
Yes, the Halal certification issued by IFANCA is also recognized
in Singapore. To view a copy of the certificate, click
here.
7) Can vegetarians consume the Halal products?
As the gelatin shell of the capsules contains ingredients derived
from an animal source, we would recommend that you let the vegetarian
user decide. You may recommend that vegetarians break the gelatin
shell to consume the products if they wish. Pharmanex is currently
working on making our products vegetarian-friendly.
